Arnhem is a big, lively and interesting city, with a rich history and a lot of interesting places. It is worth coming here only to admire the originals of the cult works of Rodin, Monet, and Van Gogh. Or look at the place where one of the most massive operations of the allies unfolded at the end of World War II.<\/span><\/p>\n

Entertainment and attractions of Arnhem<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The heart of Arnhem is the Grotemarkt market square. Here you can see the curious Davelshuis mansion, which is associated with many medieval legends. The house was built in the 16th century as a personal mansion of the famous military leader Rossum, and in the 19th century, it became the premises for the city government. Numerous sculptures of human heads and figures of goat-footed satyrs adorn its fa\u00e7ade.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Cathedral of St. Eusey was built over a hundred years, in the late Gothic style with a bell tower over 90 m high, one of the highest in the Netherlands. The church was badly damaged during the Second World War, and many fragments of the interior decoration were irretrievably lost. However, inside, you will see a beautiful Renaissance tombstone of the Duke of Guelders from the mid-16th century.<\/span><\/p>\n

Keppelchurch Church was built in the 13th century for the monastic order of St. John. Nearby is another beautiful old building: St. Peter’s Guesthouse, built in the early 15th century. Previously, a coin minter lived in it, and the building itself was also called the \u201cmonetary\u201d – \u201caltmeinte\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Corn Square Korenmarkt is very picturesque. During the Middle Ages, it was the centre of farm trade.<\/span><\/p>\n

The John Frost Bridge was destroyed in 1944 during a key Dutch Allied operation. It was restored after 6 years and named after the commander of the British troops.<\/span><\/p>\n

Arnhem has a large number of interesting museums. The Kr\u00f6ller-M\u00fcller Art Museum, located in the heart of the national park, has a large collection of Van Gogh’s works. It also presents the masterpieces of Mondrian, Picasso, and Monet.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Arnhem City Museum has in its collection an excellent selection of works by artists who worked in the genre of magical realism, modern painting, and a stunning collection of jewellery. The Bronbeek Museum presents expositions dedicated to the colonial past of the Netherlands. Here you can see samples of weapons and uniforms as archival and photographic materials related to the eastern colonies of the Dutch in India.<\/span><\/p>\n

Arnhem Zoo “Burgers” is especially popular with a real tropical oasis. A walk through this kind of greenhouse with a view of giraffes and other animals with birds freely walking around the territory will leave a pleasant impression.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
