Zakopane is an ancient city, the winter capital of Poland, located next to the highest part of the Carpathian Mountains, in the Tatras. This is a famous and inexpensive ski resort in Europe, as well as a colorful place with interesting Goral folk customs and original architecture.<\/span><\/p>\n

Zakopane is suitable for family holidays, sports activities and educational tourism. For skiers, there are high-quality tracks of different levels, fans of a quiet holiday can admire the mountain scenery in the national park and botanical garden, and the most inquisitive tourists will find many museums and cultural monuments.<\/span><\/p>\n

Entertainment and attractions<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The architecture presents a special Zakopane style of wooden architecture. On the streets of the city you can see its best examples: the villa Koliba, built in 1893, the “house under the firs”, which houses the Museum of the Tatras, and the sanatorium of Dr. Havranka.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the village of Chocho\u0142\u00f3w, you can continue your acquaintance with Polish wooden architecture. Here, in the 19th century, a complex of residential houses of the highlanders was built, which is still inhabited. Near Zakopane, a wooden church from the 16th century has been preserved. It is located in D\u0119bne Podhala\u0144ski, and its fa\u00e7ade is decorated with unusual carvings. Also in the vicinity of Zakopane is an ancient knight’s castle, built as a defensive fort on the old border with Hungary – this is the Dunajec castle in Nejice.<\/span><\/p>\n

The imagination of the tourist will be no less amazed by the natural monuments. A trip to the Koshteli Tatra Valley will allow you to see the Morskie Oko mountain lake and caves.<\/span><\/p>\n

Zakopane also has interesting museums. In addition to the already mentioned villas of Koliba and the “house under the fir trees”, this is the Museum of Kornely Makushinsky, a well-known children’s writer in Poland, and the Museum of Carriages and Locomotives.
