Attractions Brno

Brno is beautiful at any time of the year, but in the spring it is somehow magical in a special way: green gardens, castles and a cosy smoke from small breweries can be seen through the young foliage.

Brno is the second city in the Czech Republic after Prague, however, locals are convinced that Brno is the real capital of the country and do not want to listen to any counterarguments. It is from here that the Czech royal dynasty of the Přemyslids comes. Almost all tourists in the Czech Republic go to Prague, and the rest of the cities are unfairly overlooked. Because of this, in a calm atmosphere, without encountering crowds of tourists, you can get acquainted with all the beauties of Brno.

Shopping and stores

For lovers of brilliance and social life, Galerie Vankovka is suitable with luxurious showrooms, bright shop windows, famous brands and high-class service. Souvenir seekers are best off heading to Olympia to explore the mysterious craftsmanship of Brno’s craftsmen. And gourmets need to go to Billa, Interspar and Paneria: they supply the best organic products from the outskirts of Brno – fresh meat, fish, crispy bread and local wines.

Entertainment and attractions in Brno

The name “Brno” comes from the ancient Czech word brne, which means “armour”. This is because Brno was surrounded by a large fortress built to defend Moravia. Already in the fifth century, there was a developed civilization in this place, which left behind many “traces”: the Pantheon, Spielberg, St. John’s Church and the Augustinian Monastery. Near the town is the picturesque Slavkov Castle, better known to us as Austerlitz. Also, the famous bloody battle, called the “battle of the three emperors”, took place here.

There are several popular art galleries in Brno: “Cultural Center Brno”, “Moravska”, “G99 Gallery”, “Cabinet”, and “At the Good Shepherd”.

In the centre of Brno, from June to September, a cultural summer takes place, which includes theatrical festivals, performances, and multi-genre concerts.

There is a racing track on the outskirts of Brno, where FIA GT, MotoGP, WTCC and Formula 2 rounds are held every year.
