Sights of Poznan

Poznań is a city with a rich history. It was the first capital of Poland and witnessed a lot of dramatic events in the formation of the nation. Nowadays it is a lively and diverse large city in the west of the country, which offers the traveler a lot of activities and entertainment. The city offers a vibrant nightlife, interesting museums, and many interesting places in the surrounding area. Poznan is one of the last places in Europe where you can see passenger trains with steam locomotives.

Entertainment and attractions in Poznan

The historic center of Poznań includes the Old Town with the Market Square, the Town Hall building, crowned with a proud eagle, under which there is a clock tower, and the Proserpina Fountain opposite. There are also the Gorki Palace and the Royal Palace, the Franciscan Church and the Church of St. Stanislaus and the Virgin Mary, where organ music concerts are held.

Poznan often hosts not only industrial exhibitions, but also cultural events. For example, the theater festival “Malta”, the spring concerts “Poznań Musical Spring” and the modern dance festival.

Museums

In addition to beautiful architecture, the city has a large number of interesting museums. There is a museum of musical instruments, a museum of archeology, a museum of Henryk Sinkevich, a museum of the Poznań Uprising and many others.

Shopping and stores

In Poznań, there are a large number of excellent shops selling unique gizmos that cannot be found anywhere else. For example, goats, exact copies of those that butt at noon on the tower of the Town Hall above the clock. Or “bambers” – copies of the figure of a girl with buckets, standing over a well. “Bamberks” were called the inhabitants of the German city of Bamberg, who moved to Poznan and assimilated with the locals.
