Attractions Pescara

Pescara is the capital of the province of the same name, a large transport, port and cultural center of Abruzzo, which is located on the Adriatic coast, 155 km from Rome. Pescara is the largest city in the region, known for its 16 km of sandy coastline, rich nightlife and many attractions. Many come here only for transit purposes: after all, Pescara is home to Abruzzo International Airport, which receives flights from all over Italy.

Attractions and attractions in Pescara

The main attractions of Pescara are the Government Palace, the house of the writer Gabriel D’Annunzio (17th century), the churches of the Holy Spirit and the Apostle Andrew. It is also worth visiting the Delle Genti d`Abruzzo Museum, whose exposition tells about the history of the region.

Be sure to check out the Caserma quarter – miraculously survived during the war. It is located behind the ancient fortress walls of our time. The house of Gabriele d’Annunzio is located here, and another famous writer, Ennio Flaiano, once lived here.

By the beach of Pescara, there is a pine grove of Pineta d’Avalos with rich liberty-style villas built at the beginning of the 20th century. Here used to be the Kursaal, which was a factory for the production of Aurum orange liqueur, and now there is an exhibition and concert hall Aurum.

Also in Pescara you will find modern architecture – the Ponte del Mare bridge, built over the mouth of the river of the same name as the city. Its original design is for cyclists and pedestrians only. From here you have fantastic panoramic views.

On the last Sunday of July, Pescara celebrates the Fisherman’s Day of Sant’Andrea. During the celebration, the whole city tastes fish dishes, drinks wine, walks and has fun, and enjoys colourful fireworks.
