From its inception to the present, San Francisco has been and remains a port. The city is surrounded by water on three sides, and its main attraction, the Golden Gate Bridge, is the only entrance to the city from the north. The Auckland Bay Bridge, on the other side of the bay, is no less impressive, although not as famous.

Pier 39, a popular holiday destination with attractions, shops, fish restaurants, and most importantly – with a rookery of fur seals frolicking in the water or relaxing on wooden rafts. From Pier 41, you can take a pleasure boat to the prison island of Alcatraz. Since 1934, for 29 years, the most dangerous criminals in the United States were kept here. Now the prison building has been turned into a museum.
